Clearing the Lake Wenatchee State Park Trails

068By Fred Carani,
This is a picture from the ski trails in the North Park. Our first attempts to clear the trails were thwarted by continually falling trees making it too dangerous to be out. There were  places where there were so many trees down we couldn’t even tell where the ski trails were. We can’t go 100′ without running into trees. We would clear an area of trees and then find more buried in the snow that we didn’t  know where there. The snocats are not intended for this type of work but we have no other option. The South Park has even worse downfall. We are just starting on it and there are still downed power lines on the ground. It’s an unbelievable mess that can’t be understood until you actually see it.
