On September 11, 2001, the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon and UAL flight 93 were attacked and destroyed by Islamic extremist terrorists. 2996 people died that day and 6000 were injured. Among the fatalities were 2135 civilians, 343 firefighters, 71 police officers, 55 military personnel and 8 EMT/Paramedics.
The Washington State 911 Memorial is located in Cashmere and ceremonies there at 11AM on Monday, September 11th, will commemorate those who died. Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue along with other area fire departments, police agencies, civilian and military groups will participate in the program and Fire Chief Mick Lamar will be among the speakers.
