A ceremony is set for Sunday at Washington State’s 9/11 Memorial as the nation marks the 15th anniversary of the worst terrorist attacks in our nations history. 2977 people died in the attack including 313 firefighters, 37 police officers and 8 EMt’s/paramedics. Event coordinator and former Chelan County Commissioner Tom Green says the observance gets underway at 2pm with a flyover of two Chinook helicopters from Ft. Lewis. Cashmere Fire Chief Matt Brunner will serve as emcee and a Spirit Of America Award will be presented to John Jackson who was instrumental in creating the 9/11 Memorial. The event and the permanent 9/11 Memorial site is at the Cashmere Riverside Center located at 201 Riverside Drive. Green said the ceremony should last about 1 hour.
