Driving down 207 from R2 towards the lake yesterday or today, you likely saw smoke and thought, “I was pretty sure the White River fire is out., what is with this smoke?” No it is not the White River fire, it is out. The logging on Nason Ridge over the last few years left twenty or so large debris piles that were both unsightly and were would contribute to any fire that happen to start.
A contractor that has been working for the county building a fire break is managing the burning of the debris piles and they should be mostly burned up by the weekend. The map at the left is a screen shot of the Purple Air monitors, real time data available here.
