Action plan report – Wednesday September 2, 2015

Plain Community Protection lineLast night at the fire information meeting at the Plain Community Church, the Fire Incident team reported that the firebreak north of Dirty Face Mountain has been started.  This firebreak is now called the Plain Community Protection line.  Heavy machinery, bulldozers, excavators and masticators are now selectively treating the area from the Twin Lakes campground towards the Chiwawa River – trimming tree branches and clearing the underbrush to create a path about 300 feet wide and 20-some miles long.  The map above will help you locate where the team is working.  Eventually this firebreak will get to the Sugarloaf summit and then connect with a similar community protection line in the Entiat valley. The cooler weather is helping with this project but it can’t be completed overnight; work on this project is expected to last more than a couple of weeks.  Daily updates will be posted at http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/4354/

Volunteer fire fighters from our Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue team have been working in the greater Chelan Douglas County area to help in the joint effort to suppress these wildfires.  Come by on Saturday to the L.W.
