Important legislation is getting hearings in both the House and the Senate this week. House Bill HB-1946, and Senate Bill SB-5873 provide funding for creation of a number of community forests across the state. Nason Ridge is the top ranked proposal to receive funding from this program. Long term ownership of the Nason Ridge property will be determined and funded thru the process this legislation enables. This is a bi-partisan, statewide effort with sponsors from both parties and from both sides of the state.
We encourage you to communicate to appropriate legislative committees, follow these links: Senate Natural Resources, and House Rural Development and your local District legislators. We believe this proposed legislation offers tremendous potential to provide for local governance of the 3700 acre property on Nason Ridge recently acquired by Western rivers Conservancy through the action of the community and Chelan-Douglas Land Trust.
The clock is running on this legislation moving forward this session so please make your support known without delay.
