Another early-season brush fire showed itself at 3:15 AM Wednesday 1/2 mile East of Coles Corner to the North of US Highway 2. The fire began on private land and pushed by wind spread uphill to DNR and U.S. Forest Service lands. Fire equipment from Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue, Leavenworth, Cashmere, the USFS and DNR responded and one helicopter was used to drop water on the blaze that consumed about 8 acres by mid-morning. Crews succeeded in completing a line around the fire by afternoon but remained on the fire overnight. A unified command of Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue, the Forest Service and DNR coordinated the action in this fire.
