Thank you for the opportunity to serve the Lake Wenatchee Community for the past several years. This is a beautiful area and critical to Chelan County’s natural resources.
As you may know, the Legislative District Maps in Washington State were recently significantly adjusted by a federal judge related to an ongoing legal dispute. Chelan County ended up being paired with portions of western Washington counties. The case may eventually make its way to the US Supreme Court.
After careful consideration with my family, I decided to refocus my efforts on local service to seek a Chelan County Commissioner position being vacated this December. This is better both personally and professionally because I won’t have to spend months away from my family at the State Capitol, and I cand dedicated my year-round efforts exclusively to Chelan County.
I was raised in Wenatchee and received my K-12 education in Wenatchee School District. After completing my Master’s in Public Administration, I returned to the Wenatchee Valley to work and raise a family. My experience includes 18 years as a PUD employee while volunteering 10 years on school boards. I was elected State Representative in 2012 and State Senator in 2016.
My wife Shawna and I have been married since 2002 and have two teenage boys. We have fond memories of your Lake Wenatchee Community and have visited on several occasions to hike and enjoy the outdoors. We have enjoyed “family camp” on multiple occasions at the Lake Wenatchee YMCA camp. When people say your “kids grow up fast,” they are absolutely correct.
I want your community to know that I have a proven record of taking on challenging issues, bringing people together, and getting things done. I will bring my knowledge of your community and extensive experience working with local, state, and federal officials to Chelan County for our benefit. I also have established and positive relationships with local governments, business leaders, and organizations throughout Chelan County.
