Tom  Baranouskas is a resident of Chiwawa Pines and a great community representative on the Cascade Medical Board.  Tom asked us to publish this guest post for the upcoming election, ballots will be out on 16 October.

Gustavo Montoya has been an outstanding Cascade Medical Commissioner since appointed in August 2022.   Gustavo brings the perspectives of an active business leader and the chief technology officer of a local business as well as geographical representation, being from Peshastin-Dryden.  He is very community-minded.  For example, below is a picture of Gustavo and me when he spoke at the 9/11 memorial in Cashmere this year. He is very familiar with the needs of our Hispanic community and brings the value of cultural competency to our board.  He also has personal qualities important for a commissioner: integrity, strong work ethic, commitment to learning, and the ability to ask important, challenging questions in a way that is constructive, not divisive. 

Gustavo is also very supportive of the strong partnership between Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue and Cascade Medical Center. 

Unfortunately, Gustavo is relatively unknown and has an opponent with a high-profile name, Duane Goehner. I believe Gustavo would be a much better commissioner than Mr. Goehner who also may have conflict of interest issues in having a family member employed at Cascade Medical. You may recall that Duane ran against me two years ago.  With the strong support of the Lake Wenatchee community, I was re-elected.  I hope that Gustavo gets the same support from our community.

I also strongly support the re-election of Bruce Williams as one of our hospital commissioners but I think most of you are already familiar with him. If re-elected he will be chairman on 2024.

In my personal capacity, I ask that you please join me in voting for Gustavo Montoya and Bruce Williams as Commissioners at Cascade Medical.

In full disclosure, Gustavo did have a stroke on 17 Sept. But he is progressing well and is continuing his campaign.
