Effective Monday morning September 7, 2015 Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue has instituted Hoot Owl Cutting Restrictions. Private landowners within the Fire District may use chainsaws between 0800 and 1300 HRS (8:00 AM to 1:00 PM). After using a chainsaw owners must remain onsite for an additional hour to ensure no new fire starts from their activity. Owners must have with them the means to extinguish a fire if it starts.
With increased humidity, some rainfall and lower temperatures, we believe homeowners can begin their annual firewood restocking and hopefully use this time to create a defendable space around their homes. Currently, restrictions remain in place prohibiting: all outdoor burning including campfires, fireworks, briquette barbeques, and tiki torches.
While faux propane fire rings are currently OK to use they cause confusion to reporting entities and are a burden to the Fire District, so we ask that you refrain from using them at this time.
This does not apply to restrictions outside the Fire District imposed by the USFS or the Chelan County Commissioners.
