From Chief Dave Walker, Lake Wenatchee Fire & Rescue:
I am pleased to share that Firefighter Josiah Norby has been promoted to the position of Lieutenant. He is assigned to the Nason Creek Fire Station (Station 95)
Volunteer Fire Lieutenants are responsible for the facility they are assigned to. They are also responsible to coordinate, communicate with, and support the firefighters assigned to them by station location. Station Lieutenants are the first point of contact with the public in their station’s first in service area and are expected to take a proactive approach to that relationship. Lieutenants are also expected to serve as incident commanders and command staff on events ranging from fires to car accidents to hazardous material events and rescues.
Lieutenant Norby has been with Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue since 2016 when he initially started as a Cadet. Lieutenant Norby has worked the last two summers on our seasonal fire and fuels mitigation crew. He has previously worked for a private ambulance company and at Plain Hardware. The entire Norby family is actively involved with our community and Lieutenant Norby’s service through the department is shared by his younger brother Gabe Norby.  Lieutenant Norby is qualified in both structural and wildland firefighting, and is a licensed Emergency Medical Technician, High Angle Rope Technician, and Rescue swimmer.
