A couple different local folks have submitted concerns about excessive/intrusive  outdoor lighting in our rural area-  here are the  thoughts provided by one of them:

Excessive outside lighting has been an issue for years with me and many of my neighbors but we are not sure how to address it. No one wants to anger the light polluters and cause them to turn on even more lights. We can only appeal to their shared enjoyment of star gazing/ having a dark night to sleep under, etc and ask them to please keep their lighting to themselves and/or remove unnecessary lights, including sensor lights that are way too bright and are triggered by just a bit of wind. I found this common- sense guideline published by Chelan PUD that might help. I don’t know if there are any Chelan County rules.

Please refer to the guideline offered by Chelan PUD and respectfully remove/hood/dim your outside lighting. Sensor lights can also be too bright and improperly hooded. We all enjoy stargazing and having a sound sleep under a dark sky that can only be had if we all cooperate.
