Chelan County Fire District 9 at Lake Wenatchee held its appreciation banquet at Featherwinds Lodge on February 13th. Chuck Kocher of Lake Wenatchee was recognized by Chief Mick Lamar as Fire Officer of the Year, Tom Snook as Firefighter of the Year and Mike Stanford Jr. as EMS Responder of the Year. A special presentation was also made to retired firefighter Regge Egger for his years of service. JoAnn Fountain, Sharen George and Barbara Weeks were awarded certificates for 20 years of service to the Auxiliary A highlight of the evening was the presentation (pictured) of a check for $22,000 by Auxiliary president Jimi Wilson to Steve Saugen, president of the Volunteer Firefighters Association. The money was raised in the community by the Auxiliary at their annual Labor Day garage sale and Christmas pancake breakfast, bazaar and bake sale. Since the auxiliary was formed in 1994 they have raised and donated $192,951. The funds are used to purchase equipment and training materials and generally support the efforts of the fire district and volunteer firefighters. Fire District 9 says thank you to the Lake Wenatchee/Plain/Chiwawa community, our great Auxiliary and volunteer firefighters!
