The annual Labor Day garage sale and bake sale put on by the Fire Department Auxiliary grossed just about $21,000 this year- another record. The public is outstanding in its support of this event which takes a tremendous amount of work by auxiliary members and firefighters. The proceeds are used by the auxiliary and firefighters to provide food and rehab support to firefighters during long-commitment incidents like the North Shore fire this summer when the auxiliary served over 350 meals to firefighters. Funds are also used to acquire vehicle extrication (jaws of life) equipment for fire trucks, water rescue and ice rescue rescue equipment and training materials. Thank you Lake Wenatchee area folks and the greater community for your support of this event and thank you too to the fire department auxiliary which is the envy of fire departments in our part of the state.
