Fire season is here. Though early in the year don’t assume our fire season is still off in the distance. Lake Wenatchee Fire & Rescue crews responded to a brush fire West of Lake Wenatchee Sunday afternoon that had apparently been ignited by lighting 7 to 10 days previously, smoldered for that time and with elevated temperatures and wind came alive Sunday afternoon and became an active, wind-driven fire that consumed only about an acre but had the potential to expand rapidly. Burn restrictions are in place as of June 1st restricting outdoor burning to small campfires in approved-type fire pits. Burning of yard waste, slash, garbage or trash is prohibited.
