Crews working the wildfires in our area have been hauling some timber out of the fire areas and stockpiling it in the Lake Wenatchee area. The timber is available for the public to cut and take. The only stipulation is that a no-cost woodcutting permit be obtained and those are available at the Forest Service ranger station in Leavenworth or online at the link provided below. The Forest Service and the State Park would like to see this wood gone as it is stacked in Sno-Park areas.
One location is the Sno-Park on the Chiwawa Loop Road about 2/10 of a mile East of it’s intersection with the Chiwawa River Road. This is just East of the Midway Grocery and Lake Wenatchee airstrip.
The second location is about ½ mile West on the Lake Wenatchee Highway of the intersection of SR207 and the Chiwawa Loop Road, just West of the LWFR fire station, Access via the dirt road just a few feet West of the intersection of the black-top cut-off road connecting Lake Wenatchee Highway to the Chiwawa Loop Road.
