The organization plans to begin marketing the 25-acre property this fall following the conclusion of the 2025 summer camp season, according to YMCA President and CEO Dorry Foster.
“The Wenatchee Valley YMCA will be embarking on an audacious strategy to dramatically increase the number of local residents who can experience outdoor recreation, including overnight camping experiences,” Foster said.
The Lake Wenatchee Camp currently serves approximately 300 campers annually, with 125 from Chelan and Douglas counties, representing just 1.24% of the local school districts’ population for the age groups served.
According to the YMCA, the camp has faced mounting financial challenges, with capital and operating losses totaling more than $2 million over the past decade. Officials cited that camp buildings no longer comply with current child safety policies, and necessary renovations would cost “tens of millions of dollars.”
