The Pantry at Plain Community Church offers these opportunities to get some help to some in our community much in need of it right now:
1. Sponsor a Thanksgiving meal for a needy family. Each meal box will contain a Turkey and all the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner. Sponsor a box for $50.00 payable to The Pantry at Plain Community Church.
2. Join us for the 2nd Annual “Turkey Trot” on Thanksgiving morning at 9 am! Before your big feast, come dressed in a Thanksgiving themed costume and join in a fun run/walk around Plain to raise money for The Pantry. Bring canned/dry food or cash donation as entrance fee. Meet at The Pantry parking lot at 9 am. Prize will be given to best costume.
3. Donate new or gently used winter clothes to The Pantry Porch. We are in need of adult and children’s winter outerwear, adult winter clothing, blankets, sheets, towels, pots and pans. (2 bag donation limit due to space constraints). Please bring during Pantry operating hours: Wednesdays 1-5, Thursdays 1-7
4. Donations for a Generator System for The Pantry. The Pantry uses 6 refrigeration units to store food for weekly food distribution to 20-30 households in the Plain community. A lot of food would be lost during a power outage. With a back up generator system we would also be able to keep the Pantry lobby area heated to create a soup and warming center for people needing relief from the cold.
