Your ballots in the current election cycle will be arriving shortly. Lake Wenatchee Info does not take sides or editorialize on partisan political issues or candidates but where non-partisan local issues are concerned we’ll make exceptions. This is one of them……….
Cascade Medical, in strong partnership with Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue, is the provider of emergency medical services in our area. With this partnership, the average response to a medical emergency in our area is about 11 minutes- that’s pretty good for a rural area such as ours and must be preserved.
Five good people serve on the Board of Cascade Medical Center, four are from the Leavenworth area, one from the Lake Wenatchee/Plain area. Had we not had that one voice on the Board several years ago it’s likely we would have lost our EMS services. Tom Baranouskas of Chiwawa Pines has been our voice on the Board since 2015, is due to rotate into the office of President of the Board if re-elected, and must be retained. Tom is the retired vice president and chief financial officer of a large national corporation and well qualified to lead Cascade through these uncertain financial times.
Tom’s opponent Duane Goehner is a Leavenworth man and a good person involved in community issues but is not, I believe, the best candidate in this race. His wife is an employee of Cascade Medical so Duane would be expected to recuse himself in decisions regarding personnel administration, those issues being a significant part of the Boards duties.
Please consider supporting Tom Baranouskas for re-election to the Board of Cascade Medical Center- he is a proven leader who will be a strong voice for our area.
