Spring is in the air and the planning stage for the new soccer pitch field in Plain is wrapping up.
The Rotary Club of Leavenworth has funded the new mower for the maintenance of the pitch field and surrounding grounds at Beaver Valley Elementary, irrigation hardware, and other materials. The Cascade School District will be naming the pitch after Jim Adamson Sr., who was a lifelong advocate for youth sports in our State and local community.
A work party is scheduled for April 5-6 at the field next to the fire station in Plain to replace the sprinklers, spread new soil, level ground, and prepare for seed. As the Lake Wenatchee Fire & Rescue Auxiliary representative for this project, Bob Adamson is reaching out to enlist volunteers from our community to make this field a reality for the youth of our area. Representatives from Rotary, the Plain Community, LWFR Auxiliary, LWFR firefighters and the Leavenworth Soccer Club will also be participating in this project.
The goal is to enlist volunteers from the above organizations and our area for a total of 54 volunteer hours needed to complete the pitch. The more folks that participate, the less time each person will need to volunteer .If you are willing and able to help, please reply to bobLteach2@aol.com and provide which day and time you can participate. Volunteer information must be provided to the Cascade School District’s Facility Director by March 31 and they will do the final scheduling of volunteers. Jason 0’Brian, Field Keeper for CSD, will oversee the work of volunteers on April 5 & 6.
