Three small wildfires were ignited by lightning storms over the past week on the Wenatchee River Ranger District.1. The 1/10-acre Airplane Lake Fire is located in the White River drainage and the Glacier Peak Wilderness, approximately 22 miles northwest of Leavenworth, WA. Due to its inaccessible location the strategy is to confine the fire within naturally occurring boundaries for resource benefit. We will continually evaluate the situation and adjust our strategy, as necessary.
2. The 1/10-acre Snowall Creek Fire is located in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness approximately 17 miles west of Leavenworth, WA. The fire was staffed with 4 rappelers and the fire is now out.
3. The 2-acre Jim Hill Fire is located on the west side of Jim Hill Mountain about 1.5 miles from Stevens Pass Ski Resort. Eight rappelers and a helicopter dropping water are assigned to the fire.
