Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue and the Auxiliary celebrated the putting-in-service of two newly acquired fire rigs on Wednesday evening.  The new water tender and rescue truck were acquired and equipped through grant funding and the generous contributions of funds from the Auxiliary who generates those funds through the annual yard sale and pancake breakfast events. In our fire district, there are few fire hydrants-  thus the firefighters have to bring their water with them. That’s what tenders do. The rescue rig carries essential rescue and extrication equipment and is the tow vehicle for boats and snowmobiles on winter back-country rescues which are increasing in frequency. These new trucks are a great example of the involvement of so many in our community.
