Lake Wenatchee Fire & Rescue will have a bond issue on the ballot in July, the proceeds of which would construct a new headquarters and main fire station at the site of the current station in Plain as well as upgrade other existing stations.  The existing Plain station was built by volunteer firefighters in the early days of LWFR. The new facility is planned to include public meeting rooms, emergency shelter capabilities,  a kitchen, sheriffs substation, equipment bays, quarters for resident firefighters and will also house the Cascade Medical aid car now assigned to this area, staffed by LWFR firefighters and EMT’s.   The resident firefighter provision is projected to be a major factor in halting the cancellation of insurance coverage of properties in the in this area. Several insurance companies have already done that.

A public information meeting on this bond proposal will be held at 5PM on Monday, July 28, at the current main fire station at 21696 Lake Wenatchee Highway.  Bring your questions and comments………….
