LWFR will be testing the siren system on Wed May 6th
How long will the testing last?
We expect to run two test cycles lasting less than 15 minutes each, somewhere in that time window
between 10:30 am and 2:00 pm.
If I hear the sirens on May 6th outside of the estimated testing time, should I be concerned?
No. While we estimate the testing to be completed between 10:30 am and 2:00 pm, if you hear sirens before or after that, assume it is part of the test.
Why are the sirens so loud?
So we can alert residents over the largest area possible.
What will the test sound like?
Residents will hear a tone and a pre-recorded voice message saying,
“This is a test. This is a test of the fire emergency warning system…
What will the real thing sound like, and how will I know the difference?
In the event of an emergency, you will hear a tone and 1 of the 6 prerecorded voice messages
When will the sirens be used in an emergency?
When there is an immediate need for action, such as during wildfires, shelter-in-place, or other emergent evacuation situations.
