The task force that prepared recommendations on zoning restrictions and code revisions that will govern the marijuana industry in Chelan County presented those recommendations to the County Planning Commission last week. Comments from the public were heard at this meeting. Those recommendations will be discussed by the Planning Commission in a public meeting this Wednesday, October 26th, at 5PM at the Wenatchee Valley Convention Center at 121 North Wenatchee Avenue. Additional public comment may or may not be accepted at the conclusion of this meeting but there is not much doubt that the exchange of gunfire at a marijuana growing operation on Wenatchee Heights last Thursday night will be discussed. There are reports that the marijuana industry supporters and advocates will produce heavy attendance at this meeting as they did last week so if you feel strongly about this important issue one way or the other it’s very important also that you make your wishes known by being present. Please try to attend.
In observance of Fire Prevention Week, Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue firefighters and Auxiliary members visited two schools in the area. They talked with the students about the importance of smoke detectors, having a family plan for fires and what to do if your home catches fire. Pictured here at Beaver Valley School in Plain are: LWFR Auxiliary member Bob Adamson, firefighters Steve Saugen and Bill Moffat and firefighter recruits Patrick McGarry and Dave Millard.
