A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM this Saturday, February 23rd, for Roy B. “Byron” Dickinson who passed away at his home on Lake Wenatchee on January 29th. The service will be held at the Pine River Ranch at 19668 SR 207. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials in his honor be directed to Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue at 21696 Lake Wenatchee Highway, Leavenworth, WA 98826.
Byron was born on the north shore of Lake Wenatchee where his parents had homesteaded and the entire Dickinson family has been an integral part of the history and business community of this area for these many years. Byron served his community and his nation honorably as a military officer and an always-involved citizen. A founder of the present Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue, he bought the first fire engine in the area to protect his own property. He served as a commissioner of the fire district from it’s founding to the recent past. His knowledge of the history of the area was a resource that has served us all well. He was a giant among men in this area; his legacy will endure and his absence will be felt for a very long time.
