A new fire probably started by lightening during the night showed itself mid-afternoon Sunday to the NE of Lake Wenatchee, North of the smoke visible from the Cougar Creek fire but on this side of the ridge summit. The new fire is called the Lost Lake fire and is 3-4 miles from Lost Lake. Access is difficult and the fire size late afternoon estimated at 60 acres. DC10 retardant drops are being made on the left flank as well as helicopter bucket drops. Winds and high temps are expected tomorrow so crews are looking at widening existing contingency lines and roads from Burgess Meadows to Little Chumstick. Units from the Cougar Creek fire are being assigned. Smoke is going to be visible from Lake Wenatchee and Plain. Monitor this site, Lake Wenatchee Fire & Rescue (LWFR) on Facebook and Chelan County Emergency Management for updates and any evacuation notices if they become necessary.
