Engineers have been hard at work and have found a way to safely and quickly restore traffic on US 2 between Skykomish and Stevens Pass beginning Sunday, Nov. 22. Following this week’s stormy weather, our maintenance crews discovered a significant amount of erosion underneath a bridge located six miles east of Skykomish. Contractor crews will spend the weekend rebuilding the embankment and installing a series of jacks underneath the bridge to stabilize the structure. When one lane reopens Sunday, temporary signals will be in place to alternate one-way traffic. The signal timing will be set up to best accommodate peak traffic. We plan to restore two-way traffic by Tuesday, Nov. 24.
