Planning Commission delays action on marijuana policy

The Chelan County Planning Commission held a public meeting Wednesday evening to discuss submission to County Commissioners of a recommended county-wide ban on all marijuana growing and processing operations. Nearly 200 people attended the meeting with comments from many which supported the ban, opposed it or encouraged some kind of middle ground being sought. The meeting ended at 11PM with no decision made by the Commission who recessed then with deliberations to be continued Monday evening, February 1st. It appeared to be the consensus of the Planning Commission members that some solution be found that is short of requiring a complete shut-down by already operating farms or processers. Most objections raised were focused on the location of specific operations and the resulting odors or security concerns anticipated. Comment on our Face Book Page.
