February 2024 Levy Proposition

What am I voting for in February 2024? In February 2024, Lake Wenatchee Fire & Rescue (LWFR) will be asking area voters to refresh the Fire Levy rate to $0.95 cents per $1000 of assessed property value as approved by voters in 2020. Because of higher inflation and higher costs of supplies and equipment, it is essential that LWFR run this current levy proposition to maintain current levels of service. The levy will provide for structural fire protection, wildfire first response, emergency medical response, automobile, snow, and water rescue and other supportive services.

What will this levy refresh cost me? The request for a refresh of the 2020 levy rate is for the maintenance and operation of the fire district and is not intended for any other purpose. The requested increase to refresh the levy to $0.95 cents per $1000 will mean that a $500,000 home be taxed at $475 a year or 39.58 a month.

What benefit will I receive by voting yes? As Lake Wenatchee Fire & Rescue plans for the future, it is essential that maintaining the current level of services is desired by the community and is critical to keep the community safe. Passage of this levy is significant in maintaining the current Washington State Survey and Rating Bureau’s recent assessment of the fire district capability. Our current rating of 6 for our rural fire district means that many of you will continue to obtain home fire insurance against wild fires.
