CaptureThe Cascade Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group has been exploring possibilities of building habitat projects for salmon recovery in the lower White River. The objective of the project is to accelerate floodplain recovery and enhance in-stream habitat in the river between Sears Creek and Lake Wenatchee. This would be accomplished by installing vertical wood pieces in specific locations where it is expected to collect and increase the retention of wood that is currently floated quickly through the system. The group is aware of the implications for recreational use of the river and is attempting to address those issues in their planning. This project has nothing to do with the recently-shelved Grant County PUD proposal to build a hatchery facility on the White River. Jason Lundgren, Executive Director of the CCFEG has announced a public meeting to be held at Lake Wenatchee Rec Club on Saturday, March 30th from 10AM to 12 noon to familiarize the public with the plan and seek public input on the proposed projects. Please attend and bring your questions and comments.

We hope you can make the public meeting on March 30th. We have included links to two documents about our project. One of the links provides a bit of information about our recent float down the White in regards to the addition of new wood from the winter storms.
