Lake Wenatchee lost a good friend on Friday. State Park Ranger Bruce Beyerl passed away Friday at Central Washington hospital of an aggressive cancer diagnosed recently. Bruce began his state park service at another park but he and his wife Carol wanted to raise their family here so came to our Lake Wenatchee State Park in the early 80’s. He returned to this park to finish out the last years of his career and had his retirement papers in when he was diagnosed but passed before retiring.
We now have final details to share with you about Bruce’s Celebration of Life Service. It will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2014, …at the Cashmere Riverside Center, which is located at 201 Riverside Dr, Cashmere, WA 98815. The service will be as casual and upbeat as possible (Bruce felt strongly about this). Some requests from Bruce and Carol: 1) If people have Team Bruce shirts, please wear them 2) If you don’t have a Team Bruce t-shirt and would like to order one prior to the service, please send us a “Message” through this Facebook page and we’ll send it out quickly 3) If you don’t have a Team Bruce shirt, band/music/outdoor-related shirts are encouraged 4) Rangers and other park employees, please wear coveralls, and avoid the “formal” park uniform if possible 5) Please bring something for a potluck meal after the service – greatly appreciated We’re looking forward to seeing many of you at the Riverside Center on the 16th.
