Rick Halstead has retired as manager of the Lake Wenatchee State Park, where he spent 29 years of his 32 year career with Washington State Parks. Rick has been a leader in a number of important developments both in the park and in the area.  Rick was willing to try letting dogs access the See and Ski trail, originally after 3pm.    Turns out it was pretty dark with the 3pm start, this has moved up to 10am and many many dogs and their owners owe Rick a thank you for the winter exercise.  Rick was a key supporter in the Nason Ridge Campaign, and successfully helped shepherd the grant proposal for designing a new pedestrian bridge across the Wenatchee River between the two the North and South parks.

There was a retirement party for Rick Wednesday evening at the park attended by many current and past park employees.   The celebration was at the group picnic shelter at the state park where Ranger Trevor Wylie presented Rick with a specially designed chainsaw designating him Grand Poobah of the State Park.  Rick has been a tremendously positive influence in the Lake Wenatchee area and will be missed. Thank you for your service to our community, Rick! He will be living in the Oakville, WA area.
