Safety Day at Lake Wenatchee Fire & Rescue

o263 Safety Day 2016A large and enthusiastic crowd came out for Family Safety Day at Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue on Saturday. A hundred free new bicycle helmets went home with kids and adults as did infant car seats and booster seats; CPR skills were demonstrated and kids experienced shooting water from a fire hose. Guests observed a jaws-of-life demonstration of extricating injured persons from a wrecked vehicle and information was provided on the Districts reflective sign and free smoke alarms programs. A highlight was the arrival and departure of the Medstar helicopter with tours of it provided while on the ground. Free hot dogs and soft drinks were a big hit as were the kids give-away fire hats.   This was a great event with a lot of good information that carried the message of the fire department’s mission of saving lives and protecting property.
