The Rec Club is sponsoring a Grooming Fundraiser Dinner & Auction, November 23rd, 2024. The cost per person is $25 for a Pasta Bar Dinner, with Caesar Salad, Garlic Bread, and Desert. We will also have a Silent Auction and may hopefully go online as well with an Online Auction with the larger items. This way you may bid on items even if you cant be at the Dinner. We are going to have some great items up for bid, including a ride along with the groomer and a weekend stay at a local cabin. And much more cool stuff!
We are limiting the dinner attendance to 120 people, so if you would like to show your support and attend, please sign up now! We are currently at about 50 tickets sold so they are going fast! If you cant attend, there is an option to donate as well. Please don’t buy a ticket to attend if you cant be there, but we would appreciate your donation to the cause!

In case you haven’t heard, our snowmobile grooming funds for the upcoming season were cut again, this time 25%. Adding the 8% cut last season, that’s a loss of 33% over the two seasons. The main reason for the cut is the reduced budget due to lower snowmobile registrations over the past few years. To give you an idea, the number of registered sleds in Washington State in 2001 was 38,000. Last year, the number was 21,000. The number has been steadily declining over the past few years. Is this just a bunch of losers, not registering? Or other factors as well? It seems that the trails and snoparks are just as crowded, so….? (This cut does not pertain to the non-motorized or cross country ski trails.)
If you weren’t aware, the funding for this program comes strictly from Snowmobile Registrations and some fuel tax associated with those registered sleds (this does include Snowbikes and Registered tracked side-by-sides as well). No other tax dollars are included.
For our area, the reduction for this upcoming season is a loss of approx. $50,000; $45,000 in grooming funds and approx. $5,000 for plowing snoparks. Our contractor had offered to plow the Airstrip Snopark at their cost to keep that Snopark open as it is the only local Snopark that allows and is used for overnight camping. They also offered to plow the Eagle Creek Snopark at 1/2 the previous years funding to keep that snopark open. There are 14 Snoparks across the state that will not be maintained this season to cut costs to the program
