Thanksgiving was unfortunately interrupted yesterday by a fire in the Ponderosa community. The fire was in a one room legacy vacation cabin. Source of the fire was potentially a heat tape application but the cause is still under investigation this morning.
The sole occupant escaped the structure unharmed. Damage is estimated at $200,000. One nearby structure was protected from damage. Crews remained on scene until just after midnight. Photos of the incident are below.
Just in the last couple days Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue has also responded to significant structure fires in Wenatchee and in the Yodelin community near Stevens Pass.
