UPDATE 5:30 PM Thursday, 1-12-23: Chelan County Public Worls advises that US2 through Tumwater Canyon will remain closed at least overnight. The Chumstick Highway detour through Plain is open.
From the DOT website at 7:30 AM Thursday: There is compact snow and ice on the roadway. US 2 is closed east of Stevens Pass both directions at milepost 84.5 near Coles Corner, through Tumwater Canyon, to the west end of Leavenworth at milepost 99 due to avalanche concerns. There is a detour available using SR 207 and the Chumstick Highway. NO VEHICLES OVER 26000 gross vehicle weight are allowed on the detour. There is no estimated time for reopening. US 2 Avalanche control is planned for 8:00am.
