Community Members-
The annual Tour de Bloom Bicycle Race is one week from today – Sunday, May 17th, staging at Plain Cellars. This 4th stage (of the six-day event) is sponsored by Arlberg Sports.
We need 20+ more volunteers – mostly for the afternoon shift or all day! Around 600 racers will be on the roads of our community, and our purpose is to protect the racers and smooth traffic for our community members and visitors. This is done by flagging vehicles at intersections while each group – peloton -of racers goes by.
The route is the same as in past years with the exception that the racers will not be going through ‘downtown’ Plain or up Beaver Valley Hill. The finish line will be in front of Beaver Valley School. The racers will then cross the bridge, turn right onto Chapel Drive, and return to Plain Cellars Winery.
Morning shift is 8:00 – 12:30 and afternoon shift is 12:00 – 4:00 (or completion of race). In you have some time that day, please contact Jimi Wilson at jbwilson@jgwilson.org or 509-670-0140 stating your availability. Feel free to invite family and friends to join in the fun. We will hold a training/information meeting for radio use and traffic control – tentatively on Friday, May 15th, 4:00 pm at Station #91 – 21696 Lake Wenatchee Highway.
