WSDOT’s slope stabilization project occurring on US 2 between Stevens Pass and Tumwater Canyon will require two 45-minute closures of the highway at milepost 94 on Wednesday. The two separate closures are expected to occur between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Crews will be setting up boom cranes to reset slope netting.
A full closure in the project area is set for Aug. 19-21, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The affected section of US 2 will be between milepost 99.05 (Icicle Creek Road) and milepost 84.75 (Winton Road).
While this is a state project, motorists are reminded that Chumstick Highway, a county road, has weight restrictions. Passenger vehicles can use Chumstick Highway as a detour route; however, haulers should use Blewett Pass as an alternative route during the closures.
