Too early: A yard-waste burning incident on Cedar Brae Road on the South shore of Lake Wenatchee last evening resulted in a heavy response by Lake Wenatchee Fire & Rescue when a fire left unattended was driven by wind into trees near homes, setting the trees on fire and putting homes at risk. The sometimes unpredictable winds and weather conditions we experience here require a diligent presence while burning. County code stipulates that when debris burning is permitted (usually October 1st to May 31st):

  • Burn piles must be attended at all times
  • You must have means to extinguish on site
  • Burn piles may be no more than 4 feet by 4 feet
  • Fire must be extinguished by dusk
