Mick Lamar of Plain spends most every Veterans Day on the main street in Plain displaying his flag and reminding all of us to thank veterans for their service to our country. November 11th each is set aside each year for us to ensure veterans know we appreciate their sacrifice. Pictured are George Hiteshew, Julian Flick and Mick Lamar. The flag held by Mick is of special significance to the Lamar family- it was flown for many years on the Whidbey Island family farm of Mick’s wife Trish. Her father Richard Siewing was a Navy veteran of WWII and Korea and then served for many years as a maintenance technician on A-6 Growler aircraft at the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station. Mick served in Viet Nam during his five years in the Air Force and George served there also during his four years in the Marine Corps. Thank you Mick, George & Richard!! Photo by Tom Kay of Plain.
